Platelet Rich Plasma, also known as “PRP” is an injection treatment that is performed through qualified healthcare practitioners and uses a small amount of the patient’s own blood for facial rejuvenation.
The PRP Process:
Stop by any of our Virginia Beach, Norfolk, or Suffolk locations to have a small amount of blood drawn, usually from your arm. Many patients prefer this as a natural alternative to chemically produced injectables.
We’ll place the tube of your sample into a centrifuge, spinning it to separate the elements and create a supernatant plasma, or platelet suspension – the PRFM.
When you’re ready, the PRP (PRFM) can be clinically injected back into you, plumping up your face and stimulating collagen production. The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes. PRP can also be applied topically, spreading the nutrients over the treatment area following procedures such as microneedling.
We typically recommend a series of 2 – 3 sessions spaced out over four weeks, but the number of treatments depends upon your skin and your desired outcome, as does the extent and longevity of the treatment. Consult with our Certified Nurse Injectors to determine what kind of results you’d like to see, what areas you’d like treated, and how many sessions they recommend.
