Vaser® Shape is a non-invasive ultrasound and massage therapy treatment that smoothes, firms, and shapes the body. The treatment uses a dual head ultrasound technology to break the fat cell wall, releasing the adipose tissue, or body fat, which is then metabolized by the body.

Vaser® Shape differs from traditional liposuction in that there are no incisions or cutting, and no downtime. Similar to most other body contouring procedures, Vaser® Shape should not be thought of as a replacement for diet and exercise.*

How Does Vaser® Shape Work?

Vaser® Shape uses dual head ultrasound to target the unwanted fat directly beneath the skin. The ultrasound waves produce a “cavitational effect” over the tissue to promote fat loss. This means that the variable pressure of the ultrasound produces microbubbles that disrupt the fat cells. It only attacks the unwanted fat deposit, leaving the adjacent structures such as skin, blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue intact.

The toxins and disrupted fats are then directed to the lymphatic system (with help from a lymphatic draining hand piece) and are eliminated through the body’s natural metabolic process.

Together, these two processes smooth and shape the body, improve local blood circulation, and reduce pain and swelling that can occur after traditional liposuction surgery.*

What Areas of the Body are Treatable with Vaser® Shape?

  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Hips
  • Knees
  • Lower Legs (contouring calf lines)
  • Arms
  • Love handles
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs

What to Expect at Your Vaser® Shape Appointment

Before your initial Vaser® Shape treatment, you will be scheduled for a consultation appointment to discuss the procedure, determine your expectations, and have any questions or concerns answered by the Certified Nurse Specialist.

Your first treatment session will take a full hour for one area. The number of sessions required to effectively treat an area are determined by a number of individual factors, including your desired results. While many patients will see results after the first treatment, some patients may see most visible results after a regimen of three to five sessions. Measurements and photos will be taken before and after each treatment session.

The treatment begins with a manual opening of the lymphatic channels, which will help with the excretion of adipose tissue and toxins from the body. As the targeted area is treated with the Vaser® Shape ultrasound hand piece, you will feel a warming of the skin, similar to a hot stone massage.

Your skin is monitored throughout the procedure, checking for mild redness and temperature. Once the ultrasound portion of the treatment is complete, the area is then treated with a lymphatic hand piece which assists in moving the broken up fat out of the body.*

Is there a Recovery Period After Vaser® Shape?

No. Following the procedure, you can resume normal activity without pain or downtime. Your skin may appear slightly pink and feel warm after the procedure due to the increased local blood circulation in the area. This should resolve itself within a few hours after the treatment.*

How Long Do Vaser® Shape Results Last?

The fat cells that are treated with Vaser® Shape are thought to be completely destroyed. The reduction in fat should be long-lasting if a healthy diet and lifestyle is maintained without significant weight gain.*
